What is Alkalizing?
Among many great researchers and scientists of this subject the most widely known is Dr. Robert O. Young. He is a world renowned Nutritionist, microscopist, microbiologist, PhD and research scientist who has been studying and applying the principles of pH balance for over 40 years. He is the author of the best selling 'pH Miracle' book series which has found it's way into some areas of the mainstream media. I am fortunate to know Dr. Young and to work with him as Certified Microscopist and associate of the pHMiracle Center in SanDiego, CA. I was trained by him in live and dry blood analysis and pH theory.
As people gain an understanding of this revolutionary concept they have the opportunity to save, improve, and extend their lives and the lives of their own families. So what is Alkalizing? Simply put, it is the term used to describe the science of balancing the over-acidification of the body, which is the single underlying cause of all disease and disorders of the body.
This new understanding is in direct contrast to the currently accepted work and theory of Louis Pasteur, developed in the late 1800s. His theory stems from the idea that disease comes from germs which invade the body from the outside. But in over 15 years of research Dr. Young has found that when the body is in healthy alkaline balance, germs are unable to get a foothold.
Think of your body as a fish tank. Think of the fish as your cells and organs and the water in the tank as your blood. How important is the quality and integrity of the water and internal fluids of that tank to the health of the fish. Very, right? If the water gets dirty the fish get sick. This acidic fluid threatens the health of the fish (your cells and organs).
Imagine if we threw in too much, or the wrong kind of food and the fish were unable to consume or digest it all. In that case, The excess starts to decompose and putrefy. Toxic acid waste and
chemicals build up as the food breaks down, creating more acidic byproducts, altering the pH further.
This is a small example of what we may be doing to our internal fluids every day, which compromise the delicate alkaline balance.
Some of us have fish tanks (bodies) that are barely able to support life, yet our bodies as resilient and powerful as they are manage to struggle from day to day, building more imbalances until there is the inevitable crash or breakdown and we develop some disturbing or debilitating health crisis.
The pH level (the acid-alkaline measurement) of our internal fluids affects every cell in our bodies. Extended acid imbalances of any kind are not well tolerated by the body. Indeed, the entire metabolic process depends on a balanced internal alkaline environment. PH (potential of hydrogen) is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. It is measured on a scale of 0 to 14--the lower the pH the more acidic the solution, the higher the pH the more alkaline.
A chronically over-acidic pH corrodes body tissue, slowly eating into the 60,000 miles of veins and arteries like acid eating into marble. If left unchecked, it will interrupt all cellular activities and functions, from the beating of your heart to the neural firing of your brain.
In summary, over-acidification interferes with life itself leading to all sickness and disease.

What Causes Me to be Acidic?
There are many contributing factors to over-acidity including stress, worry, lack of sleep, environmental pollution, etc. but
The reason acidosis is so common in our society is mostly due to the typical American diet, which is far too high in acid-producing foods and far too low in alkaline-producing living foods. We eat an abundance of acid-producing animal products like meat, eggs and dairy, processed foods like white flour and sugar and drink acid-producing beverages like alcohol, coffee and soft drinks. We use too many drugs, which are acid forming; and we use artificial chemical sweeteners, which are extremely acid forming. One of the first steps we can take to correct an overly acidic body is to clean up our diet and lifestyle as much as possible.

A recent seven-year study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, on 9,000 women showed that those who have chronic acidosis are at greater risk for bone loss than those who have normal pH levels. The scientists who carried out this experiment believe that many of the hip fractures prevalent among middle-aged women are connected to high acidity caused by a diet rich in animal foods and low in vegetables. Most people who suffer from unbalanced pH are acidic. This condition forces the body to borrow minerals--including calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium--from vital organs and bones to buffer (neutralize) the acid and safely remove it from the body. Meat and Processed Meat Products
Although there has been much study, research and commentary regarding the overuse and consumption of meat products many Americans are not familiar with that fact or the evidence of such research. Our objective at Celestial Arts Studios LLC, is not to convince anyone to abstain from meats or meat products and become a vegetarian or vegan, but to give our testimony and share the information which we have learned about health and the experience we have had since we reduced or eliminated our consumption of meats and meat products. Regardless of what many believe or claim, we should eat meat sparingly. In fact although all animal life has been given for man to consume with thanksgiving, it is beneficial not to eat meat, except in the case of inability to obtain or cultivate other healthier consumable resources. The truth is the amount of meat that we as Americans eat is directly related to many of the health problems we are facing as a nation.
Consumption of meat and dairy had been linked to heart disease, gout, arthritis, and cancer. In addition diabetics take note, though little known, eating meat stimulates an even bigger insulin release in the body than pasta or popcorn! Also humans cannot easily digest meat fully and as it passes through your system it damages intestinal villus leading to poor blood production then poor cell production.
There are many reasons to avoid animal products. One is simply that they are dead. When an animal is killed it instinctively releases large amounts of adrenaline which floods its system out of fear and adversely stimulates the human nervous system. You are essentially eating the fear of another animal. Also when an animal dies its natural osmotic pressure disappears and putrefactive germs contained in the colon flood its system. It is yeast and putrefactive germs that tenderize meat during the aging process. This means they are fermented and permeated with acids and acid-generating micro-forms, 336,000,000 per serving in fact as apposed to the measly 500 found in an entire vegetarian meal.
Pork is especially loaded with acids & pathogenic micro-organisms. Pigs have no lymphatic system to move metabolic acids out of their bodies. Also most mycotoxins in meat are heat tolerant, so cooking wont protect you from them as you might like to think.

Chickens and other animal products also have a high URIC ACID content. Chickens in particular do not have the most effective excretory system, which means they absorb acidic urine back into their tissues which we in turn consume. This is known as uric acid content. Uric acid gives chicken it’s juicy flavor, is highly poisonous and ravages the immune system.

The average American Male eats 175% more protein than the daily recommended allowance and females go over by 144%. How does exercise help maintain pH?
Exercise helps to remove toxins from the body. When you exercise the process of sweating actually flushes acids out of the tissues by way of the lymphatic system, then through the circulatory system and then eventually through the urinary tract system. When you move metabolic or digestive acids out of the body you are helping the body maintain its fluids and delicate pH balance.
10. Why is America so FAT?
Americans are spending more than $40 billion a year on various diet programs and products such as Atkins, South Beach, Sugar Busters, Weight Watchers, The Zone, Eat Right for your Blood Type, and the list goes on. Furthermore they spend $15 billion a year on Low-Carb products.
What all these have in common with each other and with the conventional low-fat/food-pyramid wisdom, or conservative Weight Watchers approaches, is that they make your body moderately to highly acidic.
And in truth obesity is not about the fat, it's actually about the acid. Americans are simply overly acidic. When the body's blood and tissues are too acidic, it is simply not receiving the nutrients it needs to function properly. This sends most bodies into what's called 'emergency preservation' mode, which tricks our bodies into retaining fat in order to protect our organs. And, retaining all this fat makes us, you guessed it - fat.
There is only one diet, which solves all the problems of obesity, explains why the usual ways and fads of dieting don't work, and establishes healthy weight maintenance and that is one of an alkaline nature.
Why shouldn’t I eat DAIRY
The idea that Milk and dairy products are good for you is pure hype and cultural myth. Although your family, the media, even your doctor may have said "drink your milk", if you want to be healthy, it's best if you forget it all. Yes, the truth is it's a very big, very common, misconception, misunderstanding or some would go so far as to say "lie" in our society.
Now if you aren't familiar with this fact your thinking, well, what about calcium. Well, thinking milk is good for you because of the calcium is like thinking a glazed donut with vitamin C will help you get over your cough! Higher levels of Calcium are found in plant sources and are better assimilated by the body than milk. And Don’t try to build healthy bones by drinking more milk, in fact, you can't. The TRUTH is, you will lose bone density, the U.S., England and Sweden have the highest rates of osteoporosis in the world and guess what, they maintain the highest level of dairy consumption in the world. Keep reading and I will explain.
American women get an average of two pounds of milk per day for their entire lives, including milk, ice cream, cream, yogurt, butter etc. - yet 30 million American women have osteoporosis.
It takes 10 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of cheese, 12 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of ice cream and worse of all it takes 20 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of butter - all extremely acidic or better “concentrated acid”.
Drinking milk does not prevent bone loss. That's because bone loss is caused by too much protein and sugar intake, like the protein whey and the sugar lactose in dairy. Science magazine called dietary protein the most important contributor to osteoporosis in 1986. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 1995 explained that "dietary protein increases production of acid in the blood which can be neutralized by calcium mobilized from the skeleton."
A study in the Journal of Nutrition in 1981 found that doubling your protein intake doubled you calcium loss. And a 1979 study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that even someone getting 1400 mg. of calcium daily can lose up to 4% of their bone mass each year on a high-protein diet. The key is not to keep drinking milk for the calcium (getting more and more protein all the while) but to reduce the excess protein in your diet so that the body has no need to leach calcium from the bones, weakening them.
Not to mention the overall oddity that it is so popular for humans to drink the contents of udders intended to ween a calf into a 1000 lb. Cow. While Cheese is a product of fermentation, dairy foods also contain residues of hormones and fungally based antibiotics as well as yeast, molds and mycotoxins because cows are fed cheap stored grains. Dairy is the leader of all foods in being mucus forming. It gums your insides up. You can notice this from that sticky feeling in your mouth/throat after an ice cream cone.
Also The pasteurization process kills any good enzymes that the milk might have had and In addition milk and especially cheese contain lactose which break down into yeast and fungus feeding sugars. Dairy is highly acid-forming. In 1990 researches noted that milk consumption increased the risk of ovarian cancer in persons who drank it regularly. As we know, milk, butter and animal fat are correlated with endometrial cancer. Because it is so disruptive dairy should be completely eliminated especially if you are ill.

11. What is the greatest scientific discovery to date?
It is that the human organism is alkaline by design and acidic by function. If the alkaline design of the body could be maintained, theoretically we would never know death.
12. The U.S. uses the most Medicine but is one of the most Unhealthy Countries - WHY?

For these and many other reasons the name “Sickness Business” is now being used to describe today’s traditional medical industry in the U.S. There is more money in keeping the patient on pharmaceuticals to treat symptoms rather than fixing the root problem.
Current medicine is not going to the source of health problems. Doctors, as hard working and caring as they are, are primarily trained in the use of pharmaceuticals to treat illness and with today’s governance they must conform to these generally adopted views.
Unfortunately the current Western medical model does not accept the reality of 'disease' being nothing more than the expression of imbalanced body chemistry.
The human cell is only as healthy as its surrounding alkaline environment. One of the drawbacks to the traditional medical model for disease research and treatment is that Instead of taking measures to stop the formation of irregular cells that make us sick, mainstream medicine waits for unhealthy cells to develop and then tries to kill them.
13. Should my KIDS be taking Alkalizing Supplements?
The answer is most definitely yes. It is actually our youth, the future of our world, that are in the most danger, facing the early onset of health challenges once only prevalent in adults. The stats are scary. Children now obtain over 50% of their calories from fat or added sugar (32% and 20%, respectively). The growing epidemic of childhood overweight and obesity is a major public health concern. Currently 15% of US youth are overweight, nearly twice as high in children and three times as high in adolescents compared to 1980 rates. 60% of overweight children have at least one cardiovascular risk factor like hypertension or hyperlipidemia and the prevalence of type 2 diabetes is increasing in youth.
Kids diets today generally range from poor to terrible. Less than 15% of children eat the minimum daily-recommended servings of fruit, and 35% eat no fruit on a given day. Worse still only 17% of children consume the minimum daily-recommended servings of vegetables, and 20% eat no vegetables on a given day. So where are our youth getting the nutrients and energy to build healthy cells, blood and internal organs?
Certainly not at school. In fact school lunches contain 33% of calories from fat, including 12% from saturated fat, while U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommend 30% & 10% respectively. All in all 90% of children consume amounts of fat above the recommended level.
With 15% of children ages 6-19 overweight, 25% ages 5-10 with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or other early warning signs for heart disease and 30,000 with type 2 diabetes the Surgeon General has reported that obesity in children is reaching “epidemic proportions.
From there we can question today’s prevalence of ADD, ADHD and other learning challenges in our youth. Around 2million school children in the U.S are said to have ADD or ADHD, a diagnosis based on parent, teacher and ADD professional evaluation not by medical laboratory testing. From 1990 to 1995, that’s just 5 years, the number of kids on ADD drugs tripled in the U.S. According to the United Nations the U.S. consumes 85% of the world’s methylphenidate.
Something is terribly wrong with this picture and it is the desire of many parents today to be slower to promote the use of acidic, addictive, harmful pharmaceuticals on their kids.

Most of these were introduced in large quantity after WWII. Production of these synthetic chemicals increased 100 fold from 1920 to the end of the 1980’s. Today industrial chemical production now tops 5-trillion pounds each year. There are more than 70,000 synthetic chemicals now in use but fewer than 1600 of them have been tested for carcinogenicity. In the U.S. about 2.23 billion pounds of pesticides are used each year, 82% of the U.S. households use pesticides: 50% use weed killers and 50% use flea treatments. In 1994 2.26 billion pounds of toxic chemicals were released into the environment: 177 million pounds of them were KNOWN Carcinogens. This figure is just from direct emissions from manufacturing facilities. Forty possible carcinogens have been found in drinking water, 60 in the air, and 66 on food crops. More than 1 million Americans live in areas that do not meet the current health standards for ozone smog, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, lead, and particulate matter in the air. In addition other air toxins exceed levels considered safe in millions of neighborhoods. MERCURY now contaminates fish so severely that it has triggered more than 1600 government warnings against eating certain fish. Even frequently eaten commercial fish such as swordfish, tuna and shark are frequently found to have unsafe levels of mercury. And levels only stand to increase in the future as the chemical industry continues to grow at a rate of 3.5% each year, doubling in size every 20 years.
Many toxic chemicals are now in our bodies, in breast milk, and in newborns. In the body of an average middle-aged U.S. man residues from 177 different organochlorines (carbon-based substances that have chlorine as one of their constituent molecules) can be detected. Many of these residues are from known or suspected carcinogens. Dioxin is present in humans in amounts at or near those known to cause metabolic and immune changes in lab animals. 1.16 million women of childbearing age are at risk of unsafe levels of mercury consumption form eating fish. Everyone in the U.S. has detectable levels of DDT and PCB’s in their tissues despite the fact that DDT has been banned from use in this country since 1972.
By 1976 about 25% of human breast milk in the U.S. was too contaminated to have been sold as food and there is evidence that some of these contaminants are passed to nursing babies. Umbilical cord blood that comes directly from the newborn child contains PCBs, Pesticides and phthalates. Lead, an element not naturally found in the body, is now present in the bodies of humans and all other living things on the planet. About 4.4 million women of childbearing age may have blood lead levels higher than the maximum safe levels for fetuses. The Inuit people and other populations that live far from sites of manufacture or use of synthetic chemicals have some of the highest body burdens of persistent toxic chemicals because of the global dissemination of these chemicals. Coal burning power plants are the largest source of MERCURY pollution and the only major source the government does not regulate. It has been found that an estimated 98,000 pounds (49 tons) of mercury are emitted directly into the air by hundreds of coal-burning power plants in the U.S. each year, confirming the most recent government mercury pollution estimates.
In this toxic world today supplementation is no longer an option. Our bodies need support in order to combat the levels of carcinogens and poisons in our environment. Providing these tools is part of the Synergy mission.
16. What’s your FAVORITE Core Greens™ Recipe?
I’d have to say that the family favorite is the Core Greens Shake. It makes a great breakfast smoothie. It is also an awesome summer afternoon cooler or perfect frozen in popsicle molds for an afternoon treat. This is also a great way to get kids and adults who don’t like the taste of greens alone to get their daily serving!
CORE GREENS™ SHAKE
In a blender add…
1/2 to 1 whole cucumber (peeled, seeded and cut into 1 inch peices)
1-2 generous handfuls of spinach
1/2 can or 1 cup fresh coconut milk
1 whole avocado
2 limes (whole, peeled)
1-2 packets stevia powder (all natural herbal sweetener, find in health food section at Supermarket)
1/2 to 1 whole scoop Core Greens
generous handful of ice
Blend ingredients together till smoothie texture
pour into glass and sprinkle dried coconut on top add straw and enjoy!
